Training for Families and Professionals
Workshops are provided on a variety of topics for caregivers, family members and professionals. Topics may include stress management, legal and financial issues, diagnosis, treatments, and long-term care planning.
“Family focused” education and training includes community education events or family training series designed to help families understand the nature of brain disorders. This includes topics like how to cope with emotional issues, caregiving problems, management of day-to-day care, planning for future legal/financial needs, locating available resources, and caring for the caregiver.
Professional training includes presentations at professional conferences and large-scale events oriented to professionals and/or the general public. Examples for this category include training for service providers and conducting public forums that explore the special needs of our clients.
Family Focused and Professional Training activities include the following:
Conferences/Seminars: These events are for caregivers or professionals serving caregivers in workshop, symposium or roundtable formats.
In-service Sessions: Mountain Caregiver Resource Center provides short programs on topics relating to brain impairments conducted for staff of community agencies. While the program usually includes some orientation to Mountain Caregiver Resource Center, the main focus centers on the topical area of concern by the community agency. Each session consists of 1-2 hours in duration and is presented by trained staff or outside experts.
Public Presentations: Consist of speeches, lectures, and panel discussions given at conferences, community forums and colleges or graduate school level classes. The duration of these presentations varies based on each request. These presentations are made by Mountain Caregiver Resource Center staff.
