Many of the proposed changes would affect both current and future Medicare beneficiaries, but in significantly different ways, depending on which changes are adopted. Savings to the Medicare program in “Washington speak” usually mean reducing the number or amount of services beneficiaries receive which translates to beneficiaries paying more of their own health care costs.
