Passages is operating with limited services available; no in-person meetings or walk-ins at this time. For those currently enrolled in the Home Delivered Meal program, services are still in effect.

COVID-19 Scams 
 Here are a few of the schemes: 
  •  Scammers are approaching residents of senior housing and assisted living facilities about “opportunities” for COVID-19 testing
  •  Beneficiaries are receiving robocalls about "special virus kits" and being asked for their Medicare number to send a "free" test
  •  Health care agencies are receiving scam emails offering COVID-19 testing services that can be ordered through a telehealth provider
  •  Online services offer a free vaccine in exchange for Medicare #
  •  Fraudulent emails claiming to be from the Centers for Disease Control or other experts offering information on the virus 
  •  Cybersecurity scammers send a link which implants PC ransomware​

PG&E's Public Safety Shutoff Program (PSPS)

Is when PG&E proactively shuts off power to electrical assets that are located in high fire risk areas. Any aging adult with a disability or severe health condition using medical equipment that require power can access assistants from a couple of PG&E's functional needs community programs.

Medical Baseline Program:

Also known as Medical Baseline Allowance, is an assistance program for residential customers who have special energy needs due to qualifying medical conditions. Customers eligible for Medical baseline receive an additional allotment of electricity and/or gas per month. The program includes two different kinds of help:

  1. A lower rate on your monthly energy bill
  2. Extra notification in advance of Public Safety Power Shutoff

CFILC Portable Batteries:

As part of Pacific Gas and Electric Company's (PG&E) commitment to safety and supporting customers and communities, the company will join the California Foundation for Independent Living Centers (CFILC). The joint effort will aid the disability, aging and Access and Functional Needs  (AFN) population ahead of the Public Safety Power Shutoff. Also, known as the Disability Disaster Access and Resources Program.

Medicare Workshop

PASSAGES Health Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program (HICAP) is presenting "Welcome to Medicare" workshops for those turning 65 this year or younger adults who will be entitled to Medicare due to a disability.

Join us for the first online "Welcome to Medicare" workshop scheduled for July 9th from      10AM -NOON. Registration is required and participants will need a computer or laptop to join the workshop.
